About

I write about American literature and culture from the nineteenth century to today. I’m working on a book about the history of creativity, which is under contract with Yale University Press.

I teach at the University of Chicago, where I’m a Harper-Schmidt Fellow in the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts and a collegiate assistant professor of humanities.

My writing has appeared in n+1, Cleveland Review of Books, New Literary History, Modern Language Quarterly, English Literary History, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and elsewhere.

I also write poetry, which has appeared or will soon in Bennington Review, Lana Turner, Prelude, and Fence.
